Springbank Park: Steps

This photo was taken quite a long time ago when I was taking pictures for my Introduction to Photography class at Fanshawe College in London, On. I like all the criss crossing lines.

Horseshoe Falls, Niagara Falls Canada

I love the Cokin Filter system, but my filter holder seems to always get in the picture and spoil it. If anyone is familiar with this holder, and has ideas on how to avoid this, please let me know. I had to crop this picture to hide most of the shadowing that it framed the picture with.

Finding a Notebook

Last Sunday I spent a lazy afternoon playing Scrabble for 4 hours in Starbuck's with a new friend of mine. We had been keeping our eye on a couple of comfy chairs that were being occupied by a man (studying for a Real Estate exam) and a woman (short, severe looking, glasses).

Once the comfy chairs were emptied (at almost the same time!) we quickly moved into position and claimed our spot. I noticed that the woman had left behind a stack of Yoga & Pilates books as well as her small, spiral bound notebook and pen. I was immediately interested in flipping through to read what she writes every day. I know that I love little notebooks and I know what I write in them...but what did she write?......

It was a question burning enough for me to share it with my friend. "Are you curious to see what she wrote?" I asked. "Oh yes!" she replied. PERMISSION! I quickly scooped up the book and began reading through her life notes.

We learned that she is a yoga instructor, she lives in a "beautiful condo" with a wonderful husband and children. She was apparently on the verge of wanting to sell her beautiful condo because she had made notes regarding investments and the price of her condo and that on her todo list occasionally popped up to talk about selling it. She also apparently needed to manage her time down to "take shower, 6:30am" and then "make bed".

I began to believe that this woman takes achievement down to the minute level. So if she made her bed; SUCCESS!

Later on in the book, she wrote something very mysterious and telling.
"Relationships that aren't working for me: 1) Marty 2) Hairstylist"

This cracked me up.
My friend remarked that nowhere in the book did this person write anything about her status as a mother. No errands to run included her children's needs.

This would be a case of not judging a book by its cover--literally.

Niagara Falls

I took this last year I believe. I liked the mist around the frozen chunk of rock at the base of the Falls, it looks very dreamy.
